Ab dem 23. April 2023, und somit über das Berlin Gallery Weekend, wird drj art projects eine besondere Ausstellung präsentieren: In Kooperation mit der Stiftung Konzeptuelle Kunst, Soest, werden ausgewählte Werke der SAMMLUNG SCHROTH in der Berliner Programmgalerie zu sehen sein.
Hintergrund ist die inhaltliche Nähe und Ausrichtung der Beteiligten: Carl–Jürgen Schroth – Ingenieur, Unternehmer und Designer – hat in über drei Jahrzehnten eine Kunstsammlung minimaler, konzeptueller und konkreter Werke aufgebaut, die mit über 600 Werken und einem eigenen Ausstellungsraum, Teil des Museum Wilhelm Morgner in Soest, internationale Strahlkraft besitzt. 2014 wurde dort zudem die Stiftung Konzeptuelle Kunst gegründet, die zum einen auf Werken der Sammlung Schroth beruht, sowie sich andererseits um die öffentliche Sichtbarkeit und Verbreitung der Kenntnisse zu minimal–konzeptuellen Ansätzen in der Bildenden Kunst verdient macht.
drj art projects wiederum steht als Programmgalerie seit 15 Jahren in Berlin als Ausstellungsort für die inhaltliche Auseinandersetzung mit dem konzeptuellen und minimalen Sektor der zeitgenössischen Kunst. In bislang mehr als 90 Ausstellungen wurden seit 2008 internationale Positionen in den Ausstellungsräumen auf der Roten Insel in Schöneberg gezeigt. Mit der Sammlung Schroth und der Stiftung Konzeptuelle Kunst hat drj art projects bereits zuvor Ausstellungen in Kooperation realisiert, wie etwa 2021 im Raum Schroth h System und Progression zu Hartmut Böhm [1938 – 2021], oder jüngst CENTURY. idee bauhaus in Veszprém, Ungarn.
Für die Berliner Ausstellung PROFIL. haben die Sammlungskuratorin Juliane Rogge und Carl–Jürgen Schroth, gemeinsam mit Christiane Bail und Matthias Seidel von drj art projects, solche Werke zusammengestellt, die das Profil der Sammlung ebenso prägnant wie stellvertretend nachzuzeichnen vermögen. Angesichts der umfangreichen Bestände an Kunstwerken der Sammlung, in Relation zur überschaubaren Größe des Berliner Ladenlokals von drj, eine besondere Herausforderung! Im Ergebnis eröffnen die ausgestellten Kunstwerke und die darin vielfältig sichtbar werdenden Themen und Arbeitsweisen der Künstler:innen Einblicke in die inhaltlichen Stränge Konzeptueller Kunst, speziell und insbesondere natürlich jenen der Sammlung Schroth. Dem interessierten Berliner Publikum soll dadurch nach einem Besuch der Ausstellung in Schöneberg auch ein baldiger Abstecher nach Soest nahegebracht werden.

Starting April 23, 2023, and thus during the Berlin Gallery Weekend, drj art projects will present a special exhibition: In cooperation with Stiftung Konzeptuelle Kunst (Conceptual Art Foundation), Soest, selected works from the SAMMLUNG SCHROTH (SCHROTH COLLECTION) will be on view in the Berlin programme gallery.
The backdrop is the proximity and the alignment of the participating parties in terms of content: Carl-Jürgen Schroth – engineer, entrepreneur and designer – has built up an art collection of minimal, conceptual and concrete works over more than three decades, which has international impact with more than 600 works and its own exhibition space, part of the Museum Wilhelm Morgner in Soest. In 2014, the Stiftung Konzeptuelle Kunst was also founded there, based on works from the SAMMLUNG SCHROTH on the one hand, and on the other hand, dedicated to the public visibility and dissemination of knowledge on minimal-conceptual approaches in the visual arts.
drj art projects, on the other hand, has been a programme gallery in Berlin for the past 15 years as an exhibition venue for the content-related discourse on the conceptual and minimal sector of contemporary art. In more than 90 exhibitions to date, international positions have been shown in the exhibition spaces on the Rote Insel in Schöneberg since 2008. drj art projects has previously realized exhibitions in cooperation with the Schroth Collection and the Conceptual Art Foundation, such as 2021 in the Raum Schroth System und Progression on Hartmut Böhm [1938 – 2021], or most recently CENTURY. idee bauhaus in Veszprém, Hungary.
For the Berlin exhibition PROFIL. collection curator Juliane Rogge and Carl-Jürgen Schroth, together with Christiane Bail and Matthias Seidel of drj art projects, have assembled works that are able to trace the profile of the collection as concisely as they are representative. In view of the extensive inventory of artworks in the collection, in relation to the modest size of drj‘s Berlin venue, this was a particular challenge! As a result, the exhibited artworks, and the diverse topics and approaches of the artists that become visible in them, provide insights into the thematic aspects of Conceptual Art, especially and in particular of the Schroth Collection, of course. After a visit to the exhibition in Schöneberg, the interested public in Berlin should be encouraged to take a trip to Soest in the near future.
