Lange war klar, dass im Frühjahr 2025 die 100. Ausstellung bei dr.julius art projects in Berlin stattfinden würde. Anstatt jedoch zurückzublicken und die Entwicklung oder die Geschichte von drj seit 2008 zum Thema zu machen, sind wir viel mehr daran interessiert, wie wir alle weitermachen werden. Um das herauszufinden, haben wir dieses partizipative Mail–Art–Projekt gestartet.
Angesichts der unzähligen Krisen unserer Zeit, die vom Zerfall lokaler Kulturräume, den Verwerfungen in unseren Gesellschaften, einer steigenden Anzahl bewaffneter Konflikte und faschistisch-autoritären Tendenzen weltweit, bis hin zur offensichtlich nicht mehr umkehrbaren globalen Klimakatastrophe reichen, wollen wir umso mehr nach vorne schauen. In unserem Gedankenaustausch und den fortlaufenden Gesprächen mit kreativen Menschen weltweit haben wir festgestellt, dass sich viele von uns ständig und immer häufiger grundlegende Fragen stellen, etwa: »Wie mache ich trotz alledem weiter? Was ist die sinnvolle und relevante Bedeutung meiner Arbeit? Wie schaffe ich es, motiviert zu bleiben?« usw. Und die überwiegende Mehrheit von uns findet fast täglich individuelle Antworten auf diese Fragen. Daher ist …and going on. ein Projekt, das darauf abzielt, die vielen verschiedenen Wege aufzuzeigen, um weiterzumachen – von den eigenen inneren Konflikten bis zur tiefen Entschlossenheit, durchzuhalten.
Daher hat dr.julius art projects seit 0ktober 2024 Künstler:innen, Kurator:innen, Direktor:innen, Sammler:innen konzeptueller minimaler und verwandter Bereiche der zeitgenössischen Kunst eingeladen, ihre persönlichen Antworten mit uns zu teilen, komprimiert auf das klassische Medium der Postkarte. Mehr als 350 Eingeladene sendeten eine Antwort per Post auf die Rote Insel in Berlin.
Die Frage „Was lässt DICH weitermachen?“ wurde höchst unterschiedlich umgesetzt. Es ist eine ganz besondere Auswahl an künstlerischen Gedanken, Haltungen, Ansätzen, Ideen und Werken zusammengekommen. Die kollektive Aussage, die daraus hervorgeht, kann als eine Art Gesamtkunstwerk gelten, das aus allen Beteiligten, dem Inhalt und dem Medium sowie der Zeit und dem Ort der Ausstellung besteht. Aus den Beiträgen unterschiedlichster Akteurinnen und Akteure dieses künstlerischen Feldes ist ein wertvoller Ausdruck der schöpferischen und widerständigen Kraft der Kunst an sich entstanden.
Als Zeitdokument von Ende 2024 bis Anfang 2025 kann man es auch als einen Querschnitt von Ideen und Konzepten lesen, welche Hoffnung wecken, gegen die Widrigkeiten der Welt, wie sie sich heute darstellt.
Die Essenz der Einladung war wie folgt formuliert:

das Ergebnis: Die 100. drj-Ausstellung.
der Inhalt: Eine kollektive künstlerische Aussage.

It has long been forseeable that in spring 2025, the 100th exhibition would take place at dr.julius art projects in Berlin. However, instead of looking back and making the development or the history of drj since 2008 the subject, we are much more interested in how all of us will continue. To find that out, we started this participative Mail–Art project.
Facing the countless crises of our times, ranging from the disintegration of local cultural landscapes, the upheavals in various societies, a rising number of armed conflicts and fascist-authoritarian tendencies worldwide, to the global climate catastrophe that can obviously no longer be reversed, we want to look ahead all the more. In our exchange of thoughts and ongoing conversations with creative minds worldwide, we have noticed that many of us are constantly and increasingly asking ourselves fundamental questions, like: »How do I continue despite all of this? What is the meaningful relevance of my work? How do I manage to stay motivated?« etc. And the vast majority of us find individual answers to these questions almost every day. …and going on. thus is a project that aims to demonstrate the many different ways to keep going ahead, reaching from personal inner struggle to the deep resolve to carry on.
Therefore, in October 2024, dr.julius art projects invited artists, curators, directors, collectors of conceptual minimal and related sectors of contemporary art to share their personal answers with us, condensed to the classic medium of the postcard. More than 350 invitees did respond and sent a contribution via mail to Berlin’s Rote Insel.
The question »What keeps YOU going?«, was answered in a huge variety of ways. The exhibition now brings together a very special selection of artistic thoughts, attitudes, approaches, ideas and works.. And the collective statement that emerges from this, can be seen as a kind of Gesamtkunstwerk, consisting of all the people committing, the content and the medium, as well as the time and space of the exhibition. Created from the contributions of a wide range of actors in this artistic field, it has become a valuable expression of the creative and resistant power of art per se.
As a contemporary document from late 2024 and early 2025, it targests to be a cross-section of ideas and concepts that inspire hope against the adversities of the world as it appears today.
The essence of the invitation was this:
the question: what keeps YOU going?
the medium: send us a postcard!
the result: the 100th drj exhibition.
the content: a collective artistic statement.
the message: we will see…
